Timing and reminders
Decide when each lesson is sent and by when learners should finish it. Reminders come from your account.
Timing of steps
The trigger and every lesson have a timing that says when the next lesson follows:
- Wait — a number of hours, days or weeks. The shortest wait is 1 hour, so a lesson is never sent sooner than an hour after the trigger or the previous lesson.
- Only on weekdays (Mon–Fri) — if it falls on a Saturday or Sunday, it moves to Monday.
- At a specific time — in your account's time zone (set in General).
Click the bubble between two lessons to change its timing.
Count the time from
In Sequence settings, choose in Count the time to the next lesson from what the timing counts from — for all lessons of the sequence:
- When the previous lesson is sent — each lesson follows on schedule, whether or not the learner has finished the previous one.
- When the learner completes the previous lesson — each lesson waits until the learner completes the previous one. Its timing counts from that moment.
The timing bubbles between lessons say it in one sentence, for example Next lesson 1 hour after it's sent (paper plane) or Next lesson 1 day after it's completed (check mark).
The same choice says when the sequence ends: once the last lesson is sent, or once the learner completes it. This matters for sequences started when another sequence is completed.
Channel
In Sequence settings, choose in Send lessons via whether the sequence sends its lessons by email, Slack or SMS — the same channel for all lessons (Slack and SMS are offered once connected in Integrations). Each lesson's invitation has a subject and message you write in its step settings, in the same editor as in Share (with the same variables). For Slack and SMS, the subject is used when the invitation falls back to email. Use default message clears your text and the default text in the lesson's language is used. If a learner can't be reached via Slack or SMS — no phone number, no Slack account with the same email, or the integration was disconnected — the invitation is sent by email instead.
Help me write
The Help me write button above the message offers:
- Draft a message — writes a new message from the lesson's content: why the lesson is worth the learner's time and what they'll get out of it. If the step has no subject yet, it suggests one too. Works even when the message is empty.
Once the step has a message, you can also edit it:
- Improve writing — clearer, more fluent and more inviting, about the same length.
- Fix spelling & grammar — fixes only mistakes; the wording and style stay.
- Make shorter — a shorter, more concise message that fits the channel's limit.
- Adapt for channel — rewrites the message for Email, Slack (short, conversational, emoji are fine) or SMS (very short, plain text).
- Tone — Friendlier, More formal, More energetic or More personal.
- Form of address — switches the whole message to the Informal or Formal form of address (for example du / Sie in German). Offered only for languages that make this distinction.
Grizzi writes for the channel chosen in Send lessons via: a short email with a greeting and a few paragraphs, a brief conversational Slack message, or a very short SMS without emoji. Every edit keeps the message fitting that channel (except Fix spelling & grammar, which changes nothing but mistakes).
You can also type your own instruction in Ask Grizzi to change this message…. Variables such as {first_name} are kept. Click Undo next to the button to get your previous text back. Each edit uses AI credits from your plan.
Deadline
Each lesson of a sequence can have its own Deadline — in the step settings, choose No deadline, Within 1 working day, or 3, 7, 14 or 30 working days. A new step starts with No deadline.
The deadline counts from when the invitation is sent to each learner, in working days — weekends extend it. Learners see the date in the invitation, at the start of the lesson and on My overview, and get reminders before it, the same as with Share. If the learner already had the lesson and hasn't finished it, the new deadline replaces the old one.
Each lesson in the sequence shows its deadline below its name, for example Due within 3 working days.
Reminders
Sequences don't have reminders of their own. Learners who haven't finished a lesson from a sequence get your account's reminders — one message together with their other unfinished lessons, so they never get two reminders for the same lesson. The Reminders section of Sequence settings links to Account settings → Reminders.
Reminder settings that sequences had before are no longer used.
