Sharing lessons
Send a lesson to learners by email, Slack or SMS with a personal link for each of them.
Only published lessons can be shared. Open the lesson and click Share (or select several lessons on the Lessons page and click Share).
1. Choose learners
Search by name or email, or filter by group to pick a whole group at once. When some learners have their own language, you can also filter by language. Learners who already have the lesson are marked Assigned. To share with someone new, first add them as a learner.
2. Write the message and send it
Choose Send via:
- Email — subject and message. Below the button, the email also has a QR code with the learner's personal link, so they can open the lesson on their phone when they read the email on a computer.
- Slack — a direct message from the Grizlet app. Learners are matched with Slack users by email. Needs Slack connected.
- SMS — a text message with the personal link added at the end. Learners need a phone number. Needs Twilio connected.
Help me write opens a menu for writing the message with Grizzi. Draft a message writes the subject and message for you from the lesson's content, in the lesson's language and as long as the chosen channel allows — it explains why the lesson is worth the learner's time and what they'll get out of it. Grizzi writes for the channel you've chosen in Send via — an email, a short Slack message or a very short SMS — and keeps the message fitting it in every edit. The other options edit the current message: improve the writing, fix mistakes, make it shorter, adapt it for a channel, change its tone or form of address, or follow your own instruction — the same as in sequences. Undo next to the button brings back your previous text; Use default message brings back the default text. It's available when you share one lesson and uses AI credits from your plan.
Choose a Deadline — No deadline, Within 1 working day / 3 / 7 / 14 / 30 working days, or On a date…. It starts at No deadline. Learners see the date in the message and in the lesson. Sharing again with a new deadline moves it for learners who haven't finished. See Deadlines and reminders.
Before sending, Grizlet tells you which learners can't be reached via the chosen channel (no phone number, not in your Slack workspace).
Every learner gets their own personal link. Sharing also assigns the lesson to them, so it shows up in their profile and in results.
Alternatively, Copy link and assign copies the personal links so you can send them yourself (with the deadline you chose).
Learners who don't finish the lesson get reminders automatically.
Message variables
Click a variable under the message to insert it. It's filled in for each learner:
| Variable | Replaced with |
|---|---|
{first_name} | Learner's first name |
{first_name_vocative} | Learner's first name in the form for addressing them — e.g. in Czech, Ahoj {first_name_vocative}, gives “Ahoj Martine,”. In languages that don't change names, the same as {first_name}. See Addressing learners by name. |
{name} | Learner's full name |
{company} | Company name |
{team} | Learner's team |
{hire_date} | Learner's date of hire |
{course} | Lesson title |
{course_minutes} | Estimated lesson length in minutes (how it is estimated) |
{course_link} | Personal lesson link |
{team} and {hire_date} are left empty for learners who don't have them filled in — Grizlet warns you when you use them.
Emoji make an SMS hold only 70 characters instead of 160, so a message may be split into more SMS.
Sharing several lessons
When you share several lessons at once, each lesson is sent as a separate invitation. If you don't change the default text, each invitation uses the default text in the lesson's own language. The deadline you choose applies to all of them.
Sharing from a learner
On a learner's profile, Share lesson assigns a lesson to that one learner.
