Lesson settings

Names, address, status, access, language, fonts and scoring of a lesson.

Open a lesson and click Settings in the editor header.

Internal name and public title

  • Internal name — what your team calls the lesson in the admin. Short, abbreviations are fine. Learners never see it.
  • Public title — what learners see in the player, on your public page and in invitations. Leave it empty to use the internal name.
  • Public short description — shown in the lesson list on your account's public page.

Lesson URL

The last part of the lesson's address. Changing it breaks links that were already sent.

Status

  • Draft — visible to the team only.
  • Published — available to learners.
  • Archived — unavailable to learners; kept with its results.

You can also change the status in the editor header or for many lessons at once from the Lessons page.

Who can take this lesson

Decides whether a lesson works without a personal invitation. See Who can take a lesson.

Player language

The language of buttons and messages in the player ("Continue", "Submit"…). Card content stays as you wrote it. The lesson language also decides which lessons can go into a sequence.

Fonts

Keep the account default fonts from Branding, or choose a heading and text font just for this lesson.

Scoring

  • Pass mark (%) — the score a learner needs to pass (default 80 %). The score comes from quiz, matching and ordering cards.
  • Randomize answer options — quiz options appear in a different order for each attempt (except questions with Keep option order).

Reminders

A lesson has no deadline of its own — you set the deadline when you send it, in Share or in a sequence.

  • Remind learners to complete this lesson — on by default. Learners who haven't finished the lesson get your account's reminders. Turn it off for optional lessons. Lessons with a deadline are always reminded.

Duplicate, Translate and Copy to account keep this setting.

Lesson length

You don't enter how long a lesson takes — Grizlet estimates it from the cards: the text learners read (about 200 words per minute) plus a little time for each answer, and about a minute for each video. The estimate is rounded to whole minutes and updates as you edit the cards. Learners see it in the lesson list and on My overview, and you can use it in invitations as {course_minutes}.
