Themes and fonts
Control the colors of your lessons with themes.
A theme sets all colors of a lesson: backgrounds, text, buttons, links, correct and wrong answers. Every lesson uses:
- its own theme, if you chose one, otherwise
- the account default theme.
Choosing a theme for a lesson
In the editor, open ⋯ → Theme. Pick one of the Presets (ready-made themes) or one of your Team themes. Choose Account default to go back to the default.
Palettes
A theme has three palettes: Light, Dark and Color. Each palette has the same colors:
| Color | Used for |
|---|---|
| Background | The card background. You can also add a Background image. |
| Text | Headings and text. |
| Button and Button text | Start, Continue, Submit and button cards. |
| Accent | Links, progress, the selected answer, checkmarks and focus. |
Under Where palettes are used, choose the palette of the Title card (the lesson intro and the final screen) and of Content cards (all other cards). Typically the title card uses Color and content cards use Light. Any card can switch to another palette under Colors in its settings, for example a dark card to highlight a key message.
Creating a theme
Click New theme. Switch between the palettes with the Light, Dark and Color tabs; the live preview shows sample cards in the palette you're editing. You can:
- set every color by hand (or pick it from the screen),
- get colors from an image — drop a logo, photo or brand visual and Grizlet picks matching, readable colors for all palettes,
- get colors from a website — enter a brand's homepage and Grizlet picks colors from its design (the primary color is taken from its call-to-action buttons).
Grizlet checks the contrast of every palette, because any card can use any palette. A tab with a problem is marked with a dot. Text with too little contrast is marked red and the theme can't be saved until you fix it — Fix adjusts the color for you.
Presets can't be changed — duplicate one to customize it. Account owners manage all themes in Account settings → Themes, including the account default. The number of custom themes depends on your plan.
Fonts and logo
Fonts and logo are set for the whole account in Branding. Each lesson can override the fonts in its settings.
